As any cat person who has had to leave their cat for a while knows, cat sitting is a very important job. And it's a difficult job too. Every cat is a little different, every cat has their own needs. It's your job, as the cat owner, to leave clear instructions to your cat sitter, to pay your cat sitter properly, and to show gratitude before, throughout and after. Because these people, who invest their time and love into taking care of someone else's pet, deserve it.

Sometimes, you manage to find a kind human who is willing to do the cat sitting for free. That's amazing. It probably means that you have a relationship with them and that they like cats enough to do it and to find joy in doing it. Not paying them does not mean that you neglect all the other things. You still have to be clear in your instructions and to be thankful. What you for sure don't get to do is tell your cat sitter that they need to pay $1000 to install a cat flap in their own house because your cat needs it.

Taking care of a friend's cat seemed like a simple favor for this 27-year-old, especially since the friend's apartment was close to her work, making the commute easier. She stayed at the apartment from Wednesday to Saturday morning, happy to help and confident the cat was well cared for. But when her friend's flight got delayed, the situation got complicated.

The friend asked her to make a two-hour round trip to feed the cat an extra meal. She explained she was already out having dinner and had plans afterward, believing missing one meal wouldn't hurt the cat. However, her friend reacted strongly, sending urgent messages and accusing her of neglect.

Now, she's left wondering if she was in the wrong for refusing to drop everything to feed the cat during a delay. Was she being careless, or was she reasonable in expecting the cat to be fine for a short time without extra attention? She returned the key and set boundaries but feels conflicted, curious whether others think she should've done more or if she made the right call standing her ground. After all, sometimes even the best intentions can leave you tangled in a catty situation.

The to-do list grows faster than your unread messages, your coffee lost its magic, and the weekend is still not here. But in the middle of this chaos, there's one guaranteed way to claw your way back to joy: funny cat memes.

Yes, fellow feline fanatics - it's time to call in the emotional support floofs. Because when deadlines loom and everything feels like a spreadsheet-powered fever dream, nothing hits quite like a cat dramatically knocking things off a shelf or yelling into the void at 3 AM for absolutely no reason.

You know, feline fam, what you choose to fill your cup with has a huge effect on your day. This is both a physical and meowtaphorical statement. Let's tackle the physical one first. We can already tell you that you should fill your cup with more water. Hydration is impawtant, friends.

The second, and the topic of our listicle today, is about your mewd. You can choose to fill your cup with negativity and live a lifestyle that purrfectly reflects that, or, you choose to fill your cup with pawsitivity and be the change you wish to see in the world. Cat people are some of the best examples of this. Cat people will do anything for cats, even if they've never met them before. In the story below, one woman adopted a 20-year-old senior cat from his shelter so he wouldn't spend the rest of his life in a cage. And if that's not inspawrational, we're not sure what is.

Universities love rules as much as cats love ignoring them.

Each corner of campus comes with a policy document, drafted by someone terrified of unplanned joy. Bedtime hours, kettle wattage, poster dimensions, all recorded. Yet the simplest threat to order is never a student riot. It is a soft purring intruder with whiskers.

This couple may be splitting, but their cats are purrmanently bonded and that's where things get complicated. Two of the feline family members are soulmates in fur and attached at the whiskers. One prefers her hooman dad, the other clings to his cat mom, but separating them would be an emotional catastrophe. And let's not forget the third, a former stray who wandered in like he owned the place and now just vibes aloof, independent, and completely unbothered.

These cats aren't just pets. They're children with tails. With both hoomans equally devoted, it's hard to imagine a clean break. Shared custody might sound silly to some, but in this case, a rotating catstody schedule could be the most pawsitive solution. Cats thrive on routine, so a gradual transition between two stable homes might just work, especially if it keeps their emotional catnections intact.

Love may be fleeting, but a bonded pair of purring furballs? That's furrever. Splitting up is tough, but when it comes to the cats, the goal is simple: do what's best for the fur babies.

If anyone knows what it feels like to be in the shadows, dipping and diving out of the way of more important and bigger people than yourself, it is cat kind. Like a cat darting from car to car when they know a dog is in the area, you make your way through the office, trying your best to avoid contact and confrontation in the office. But you deserve more than that, and the cat council saw that.

So they got in touch with us and asked if we would put out a supportive message of feline flavored hope, which of course we obliged being the feline fans we are. And so we are proud to present on behalf of the cat council this list of caring cat memes fur the underappreciated office underling. So know that cat kind sees you and sees your plight, and they will always be here in meme form to help you through the rough times.

For a species that has managed to evict itself from the food chain so spectacularly, it is rather astounding that there is so much conflict among us. Like, how did we have the time and presence to advance as a society when people are still so petty towards one and other? The answer sure is not clear, but what is clear is that today we have a story that unfortunately exemplifies this very trait.

However, it also exemplifies another human trait, and that is the trait of community. Which while it is not leant on much in our times, when it is, it is a force to be reckoned with. And the lady who knowingly held a poor cat hostage was ultimately overwhelmed by that very communal power. This is a story of feline theft, communal uprising, and communal love and support for not only the people of the community, but for the cute cat children who live among them as well.

There's just something about Mary, feline fam! She's a cutie, a looker, and she's got the fluffiest toe beans on this side of the internet. What's even better, is that she went from a horrible hoarding situation to living the good life in her furrever home. She was forced to live with 12 other cats, and even in a huge space, that's just not how cats were meant to live. We hope she's getting fed some fresh tuna from the can right meow because she deserves it. Every cat deserves it, but Mary especially, and not just because she's adorable. Okay, maybe a little bit because she's a cutie-patootie.

Purrsonally, we have never had more than three cats, but we can see how it would be a slippery slope to get to 13 cats. You save one, and then another, then another has kittens… and boom! You're over 10 cats and you don't know what to do with yourself. Don't let yourself get there, so we don't have more Marys in the future.

Howdy, feline fam. We wish we could start off this listicle with something boring like, "This is just another pawfectly wholesome rescue story", but we can't. It's absurd and bizarre, but at the very least, it has a happy ending! This couple didn't find their cat on their roof crying for help, nor did they find the kitten scared in highway traffic, but they found them on the street in a pawsitively precarious pawsition. They were being held by a man (under the influence) who wanted to do one thing: he wanted to eat them!

The couple convinced the man to give them the kittens for just two dollars, and they saved these cats from a potentially terrible situation. Now, these are first-time cat owners. They jumped right into the deep end with two stray kittens, but we're sure they're going to do great. Scroll down to read more comments about this meowraculous save below!

Over our time here at ICHC, writing about cats day in and day out, we have noticed something. We have noticed that the names people give their cats get divided into a couple categories. It's either cats have completely absurd names that are just hilarious and ridiculous, or people give their cats very human names, which is also hilarious in other ways.

The latter is what happened in this situation. The family who adopted this kitty named it Dave. The only problem is that, with human names, come human connotations. And the name Dave, generally, is given to males in the human kingdom. The family didn't know, when they named it, that this kitty was not only not male but also very, very pregnant, but the name stuck. And although we don't have a problem with her being called Dave and the family doesn't have a problem with her being called Dave… their neighbor apparently thinks it's worth calling animal control over.

Adopting a cat is a big responsibility, and every person who wants to adopt one should be aware of that. Don't let the rumors fool you. Cats are not nearly as low maintenance as some people think they are. You have to clean up after your cat, you have to give your cat attention and have playtime with it for it to not get aggressive, you have be there for your cat. And you cannot simply drop your cat off on your roommates when you don't feel like taking care of it anymore.

And if you happen to be going on vacation, you cannot simply expect your roommates to take care of your cat. It is your responsibility to find a cat-sitter who is actually willing to do the job. But we suppose that some people don't understand that, and so, they do things like what you are going to read about today. They throw tantrums and act like the world owes them something.

Breakups often devolve into petty accounting, but nothing warps a ledger faster than the threat of pet theft.

In one spectacular case, an ex decided that two rescue cats made perfect bargaining chips, discovering too late that feline leverage can claw a bank account to pieces.

Some people dream of wealth or fame, but true cat lovers know the real goal: more cats. One feline friend is never quite enough. Two? Getting there. Three? Now it's a party! The craving for extra fluffballs is real, whether it's the irresistible charm of a stray whisker or the promise of more purrs, head boops, and playful paws.

It's the daily struggle of trying to resist yet another adoption post, telling yourself "just looking" while your heart screams "take them all home!" There's the challenge of explaining to friends why your cat tower looks more like a skyscraper, why your furniture is mysteriously covered in fur, and why your lap is always full even when you thought you had some "me time."

Wanting more cats isn't just a phase. It's a full-on lifestyle. The love, the mischief, the endless cuddles. It's impossible to say no. Because in a cat lover's world, there's always room for one more purrfect companion to steal your heart (and your favorite chair), making every day a little brighter and a lot furrier.
